Stress and anxiety affect many of us, on many levels, including the physical, mental, and emotional. We may feel restless, on edge, have difficulty focusing, feel increased irritability, have difficulty sleeping, and more. Through the use of movement, stretching and breathing practices found in yoga, these feelings can be managed.
This will not be your typical studio, gym, or exercise yoga class. This is a more trauma-informed approach to yoga that teaches skills and techniques to help reduce anxiety, manage stress, and feel better in our bodies. This yoga workshop series is accessible for any body type and physical ability.
In this 6-week series, Psychotherapist and Yoga Teacher Sherry Lyerly-Tarner and Recreation Therapist and Yoga Teacher Christine Redman will work together to guide you through a series of physical, mental and emotional exercises and activities to help you gain control over your anxiety—all skills you can take home with you and continue to utilize on your own. Sessions will begin with a brief check-in followed by 30-45 minutes of practice, and 10-15 minutes of group process and discussion. Please wear comfortable clothing, and be prepared to move. You may bring a yoga mat and blanket.
Series begins on 5/4/2017, on Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30pm at Elemental Healing, Room CMR-2, 5200 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28209. Cost is $160 for the series, or $140 early bird discount when paid in full by 4/27/2017.
**Clients will receive take-home classes to continue using on their own after the series, as well as 2 MP3 audio guides in breathing and meditation practices.
